"Chanson Française"
James Taylor
A very loose English translation of "Chanson Francaise" I found this French song in an unexplored corner of my mind. And so I miss [I'm lacking?] English ideas. [Maybe implying he doesn't know the French for what he's thinking in English?] Maybe it will come out different from what I intended. If I say that I love you it's not just the same old thing. Because the words that I say don't come from the same spirit. Look at me, baby -- strange and new. I try and I try but I know that I don't know enough French. [Classic JT wordplay -- "J'essaye" (I try) and "Je sais" (I know) are pronounced almost the same. Compare to "Some are like Summer" from "That's Why I'm Here"] But what can I say? I don't need to finish. Suffice it to say that I'll never write another French song. [witness "Ananas"] Goodbye my friends. I love you very much.
