In honor of the site's 10th anniversary (February 21) I'd like to gather some stories from you folks. If you have a story about a favorite experience in the chat room, a real-world JTO gathering at a JT concert, or maybe a spouse you met through the site (yes, there are more than a few), please post it here in this thread and I'll use the results as part of the anniversary celebration on Saturday. Just about anything is fair game, though the idea is that it should be somehow related to this site -- not just JT in general.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks Joel,
I'd love to hear from or see here any OLD 1998 JTOers. I Came here in 1997 but early 1998 with the Beacon show and one of the first "gatherings" was a great time.
Hope to see some familiar old "faces" !!
Roo ;o) (one of those who met a spouse through this site, more on that later)
P.S. If you are still in touch with JTOers that don't frequent here as often (like me), drop them an email and encourage them to stop by !!

JTO This was the very first site I went to in 1996 when I first got online.Have had some insanely happy times here, as well as deeply sad times.I've loved the JT chats... its been so incredible to talk to so many ppl from every walk of life, and from so many different countries about James Taylor and his music which touches us all. I've often wondered where some of the ppl here have gone to, and if they are doing well. I'll always regret having not met Gdub... as Gypsy and I were hoping to go to his party. My heart goes out to his close friends/family... as they also go to Mike in India's friends and family, and of course, to Moe/Stortch/Fresco's friends / family ((Aunt Kathy)). We've lost so many wonderful ppl. I have to also say that when my dad was sick w/cancer 4 years ago, MANY JTO'ers were very kind and considerate... special thanks to ((( Angel ))) I cant forget the compassion and heart of JTO'ers, too. When Gypsy was having surgery in Houston, Tolk immediately located us hotels and places of interest in Houston, BAT also was incredibly helpful directing us to a hotel room, restuarants, local partying establishments(Bat plays a mean guitar!) and just was always a phone call away if we had questions. We also got to meet Tboney there in Houston too, when he came up to the hosp to visit gypsy. MAN the heart of these ppl!!! In Dec '2002, JT was in Little Rock, and several of us JTO'ers got to meet up and attend the concert and post concert bash together. WHAT a NIGHT! After YEARS of chatting gypsy and I got to meet Max, Sabi and Lorraine!!! I cant begin to tell you how special that night was, beginning with Sabi spotting JT's band members checking into our very hotel! We all had a lovely gathering @ BenniHananas where Ricky's catlike reflexes saved him from incoming flying shrimp! and Gypsys digital cam STILL has buttery spots on the lenses lol. We had fun getting to know Memphis and his wife, Paul from MO and his wife and daughter, and Amy and her daughter. We all sat and drooled at Sabi's SIGNED guitar, and loved every min of her and Max playing to us. *sigh* What a night! and all fueled by the love of JT and his music. During the NYC Gathering, someone called me and I got to talk to so many great JTO'ers, from as far away as England, Germany, Australia and NY! What a charge it was as the phone was passed around to hear soo many cool and different accents! I loved that they included me in on the celebrations, tho so many miles away. I'm so glad I met Ricky thru JTO... We've been together for over 16 months now, and I've never been happier. We keep an ongoing slideshow in the WP, encouraged by Mel baby lol. Thanks friends and JTO family, for so many good times... and I'm hoping there will be many many more!... aint it good to know, you've got a friend! ~C.

I never tire of listening to JT's music. I was so absorbed in one of the tunes from the October Road while driving down the highway this afternoon, I missed my exit. I especially love the healing quality his music has. So nice to have re-discovered him after so many years. (He was the main heart throb during my college years in the early 70's).

(cue banjo music) It was 1873 when I first came upon JTO. He was a' leanin' against the wall, bottle of "Rotgut" in one hand, pearl handled 6-shooter in the other... Hold on. That's not quite right. I came into JTO about 2 years ago and discovered, much to my delight, that there were alot of clever, very funny, and deeply commited JT fans out there. You know who you are. I chose to post my silliness here because I, like many, many others, have an honest to goodness fondness for the Taylornesses....Taylors....sorry. I also have alot of respect for the webmaster (but don't tell him. Goes right to his head). He's maintained a very nice website and has done what he can to update it with the most current JT infotainment. I'm very thankful. Fave JTO moment? Late one night last year, myself and two others in the chatroom trying to out-silly each other. I have never laughed so hard in my life. What made it extra special was that I needed that release after going through some very tough times. I still grin when I think about it. Thanks to all the cool folks I've shared words with in here. You've done more to....I mean, FOR me than you'll ever know. Toblerone Rules!

Happy Anniversary on the Net!
Discovered this board in Feb or March 1998 which was my first experience with the Internet. A regular reader-poster over the past few years. Not a regular in the chat attic but have 'met' some devoted JT fans in there. It seems James Taylor has alot of listeners who are either writers, performers, musicians or professional workers in many different occupations. Alot of fans here love their animals (kittys-llamas-Elvis!), and the arts in general.
One thing I've learned is that in the Americas music seems to be a strong thread that connects folks from every state. You folks spend alot of your income on going to various concerts because you have a wider variety of talent than we have in Canada. This site has alot of unique visitors.

10 YEARS ALREADY! Where has the time gone? I also am one of those that logged on in 1996! We only had a simple Forum in those days long before Joel added the Chat Room capabilities. Slow modems and all we were thrilled to find others across the globe that were just as crazy as we were over JT Music! It seemed a great relief to find other's who understood the magic effect JT lyrics and music had on us and it became even more special after meeting many of you. Most especially a great relief to also find that you all were lovely normal people! That none of you had two heads or were internet axe murderers or some such horror! LOL! Our first ever face to face get together as JTO Forumites was in London Jan, 1998 for JT concerts at the Barbican after first meeting at the Rat & Parrot Pub - A pub which I understand no longer exists. The Second Forumite - or 1st USA JTO Gathering was in Great Woods, MA. June, 1998 and I had the honour of being at both gatherings. Since then there have been numerous get togethers and JT concerts - I can't keep track anymore! As with many of you, I have received countless benefits and found amazing and fantastic friendships from JTO. I also have had the great pleasure of being one of few JTOers to have met our amazing tireless dedicated Webmaster Himself - Joel Risberg - and everyone - he is a darling brilliant young man (this coming from me - probably one of the oldest (in age) members of JTO!) Joel had a party for JTO online hosted out of his home, I showed up with my family! He had drinks and food and music and a room full of computers and cameras humming and busily chatting away with everyone else across the globe - Joel that was so much fun. I also enjoyed the few Arnold McCuller shows our two families went together to! Over the years, in the Chatroom and at JT concerts and gatherings in the UK - London & Brighton, in Germany - Frankfurt, Dusseldorf & Hamburg, in France - Paris and in the USA: Boston, Tanglewood - MA, Eugene,Salem & Portland - OR, in Vancouver, Seattle & The Gorge - WA. Los Angeles -CA Las Vegas - NV, I've experienced the greatest pleasure of attending JT concerts and meeting wonderful JTO people many of whom will remain lifelong friends. And of course meeting JT himself and all his Band Members and Back up singers - every encounter/adventure a very special and great pleasure indeed!! Also through JTO and generous help of members I learned everything I know about how to find my way through cyber space, how to load pictures, download songs etc, etc! Joel, Kathleen, Roo, & JusTom, NancyL.StewartC.Phil, Shawn, Sabine, Rita, Gereon, Claus, TinaS, BillJ, NeilB, Dibbs&MissSusy, JohnDoc, Elle, LauraS, Zowie, MyWords, Echo, Helen, New Moonshine, Kramette, Flea, Del, DaveC, Toad, Serge, Sam, Tom, Walter, Lorraine,Jenn,Emily,Michael D(we miss you) Bridget, MarkP - it's been truly wonderful meeting you face to face and to share JT concerts together over the years! SuperD, Gunky, DebbieW, Planet, Bat, DW and many of you other chatters from long ago-how are you, where are you all? Happy 10th Year Joel and JTOnline - Congratulations! And thank you Joel for your dedication and sharing of your Site. It has brought many wonderful experiences to many of us. Hope you are rightfully pleased and proud of what you have created! Love to all....Tee

Like most JTO'ers JTO as become like a second home to me since I first discovered the place a little over three years ago. I've seen some very VERY good times at JTO and some pretty awful ones. But the good times I've had and some of the wonderful people I've met will stay with me forever. Desp Dan a couple of non-JTOer pals and myself were among the fortunate few to attend the "2002 NYC Gathering" and I count myself very fortunate to have met in person some great JTO people leeny, goobi, H2H, ali, Ratty, KarenK, Mia, Max, Walkingman, Allegany, wusel, nocky, coops and we all got to see ree play at Kenny's Castaway club down in Greenwich Village. Unfortunately one friend that was supposed to attend didn't show...Ed, that was our loss. Plus I also met my good friend Bridget and various other UK JTOers at the JT NEC concert in Birmingham 2003...hope we all meet again one day ?
Meeting all these fine people is all down to JTO ! Long may JTO continue ... here's to the next ten years !!
Wilde (Wild Bill as was ) P.S. NYC revisited is being planned for April'ish 2005 anyone wishing to tag along is more than welcome P.P.S. I do hope I haven't missed anyone off the NYC 2002 list...if I have I apologise and blame my age
