JT will perform at a White House ceremony honoring Carole King, recipient the 2013 Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. Gloria Estefan, Billy Joel, Jesse McCartney, Trisha Yearwood, and Carole King herself are also scheduled to perform at the May 22 ceremony.
JT will join Aerosmith, Boston, Jimmy Buffett, Godsmack, The J. Geils Band, Carole King, and New Kids on the Block on May 30 for a “Boston Strong” concert benefiting Boston Marathon bombing victims. See the Tour page for ticket details.
Amanda Brecker, daughter of jazz musician and JT friend Randy Brecker, has released a new album of covers of classic songs by JT and Carole King. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune has a review of the album, which is titled “Blossom” and available now from Amazon.com.
JT and Carole King are the focus of “Troubadours: The Rise of the Singer-Songwriter”, a documentary about their early careers and the singer-songwriter movement of the 70s. “Troubadours” (not to be confused with the “Live at the Troubadour” release) is now available from Amazon.com.
